“Let us begin today’s bulletin with news on Actor Nayanthara and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, who got married earlier this month. The couple is enjoying their honeymoon in Thailand. Vignesh has been keeping fans updated with all the latest photos from her vacation. He recently took to Instagram to share two new photos with his wife of him. The caption of the photos had a bunch of heart, lovestruck, and kiss emojis. Earlier, Vignesh Shivan had shared a few photos with Nayanthara and captioned them, “In Thailand with my Thaaram.”
Vignesh has also been sharing photos from his lavish wedding which was held in Mahabalipuram on June 9.”
Moving on, the success of three regional films, KGF Chapter 2, RRR, and Pushpa, in the Hindi belt, led to a debate about North vs South cinema. Many celebrities from the two film fraternities expressed their opinions on the same. But Rocketry: The Nambi Effect star R Madhavan feels the chatter around the issue is needless and it has always been the audience who decides what they wish to watch. Madhavan said, “I think too much of hue and cry is happening. There are three films – RRR, KGF 2, and Pushpa – that did really well. I think people’s acceptance has broadened because of the pandemic. They accept films that they like and reject those they don’t”.
Meanwhile, on Vijay’s birthday eve, the makers of Varisu shared the first look of the superstar from his upcoming film. Now, the actor has shared the second poster from the film, which promises it to be a heart-warming tale. While in the first poster, Vijay is featured as the boss man, the second poster has Vijay smiling for the camera with a couple of children around him. The poster has “The Boss Is Back” as the tagline, which hints that it is a story revolving around an NRI’s return. This is Vijay and Rashmika’s first collaboration with each other. Earlier this year, announcing the project, Rashmika shared, “There we have it. can’t believe this is happening but so kicked about this.”
Speaking of actor Vijay’s upcoming film, the makers of Varisu kickstarted Vijay’s birthday celebration by treating fans to the corporate look of Vijay from the film. Later on, Wednesday, marking Vijay’s birthday, the makers shared the second poster in which the actor sported a casual look. Now, Vijay has released the third poster, which sees him striking a stylish pose on a high-end bike. As soon as Vijay shared the posters, his fans of him expressed excitement about the actor’s three different looks in the film. A fan wrote, “All three posters have shown the different shades of #ThalapathyVijay in the movie. This seems like a perfect feel-good festive package with all commercial ingredients. Happy birthday, Thalaiva.”
“Meanwhile, Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan’s latest blockbuster Vikram is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office. The film, which is in its third week at the box office, recorded significant occupancy across Tamil Nadu. Based on the current trend, the trade expects the movie will retain the majority of screens even in its fourth week.
Film critic Blue Sattai Maran tweeted, “The success of Vikram is purely organic. #Kamal has emerged as the No.1 Vasool Raja in Tamil”. Vikram has earned around Rs 262 crore in India. The movie is said to have also made huge gains in Middle Eastern countries, Singapore, and Malaysia.”
Speaking of Kamal Haasan’s mega-blockbuster, popular screens in the state will continue to retain the movie even as four films, including Vijay Sethupathi’s Maamanithan, Sundar C’s Pattampoochi, Sibi Sathyaraj’s Maayon, and Vezham are set to open in cinemas. However, none of the new Tamil releases has so far generated enough interest among the audience to challenge the supremacy of Vikram at the box office. Vikram is still churning money at the box office both in domestic and international markets. The film has grossed over Rs 378 crore since its release on June 3. The film’s box office receipts from the international markets are said to be over Rs 116 crore, according to Cinetrak.
“Moving on, Prime Video recently announced that the Telugu version of its Modern Love anthology series will premiere on July 8. Earlier this year, the streamer had announced three local adaptations of its international series Modern Love, based on The New York Times’ eponymous column.

Modern Love Hyderabad comes only two months after the release of Modern Love Mumbai, the Hindi edition. The Telugu version, which will be followed by Modern Love Chennai, brings together four filmmakers Nagesh Kukunoor, Venkatesh Maha, Uday Gurrala, and Devika Bahudhanam. Kukunoor said he is delighted to partner with Prime Video on the Modern Love franchise, which has touched the hearts of fans and audiences across the world. The series will release on July 8th. ”
“Lastly, Actor Sonu Sood recalled having a conversation with Baahubali star Prabhas while he was making SS Rajamouli’s epic fantasy film, and how the entire crew was driven to give up because of the challenging nature of the work. Sonu said that there is a ‘discipline’ in the South Indian film industry that might be lacking in Bollywood. Asked if he could predict the success of RRR and Baahubali while working in the south, he said in Hindi, “I was once in talks for Baahubali, they needed more than two years, and I was working on Happy New Year at the time. These films can’t be made, they make themselves”.
